The L3Harris driving simulator is designed to help make roadways safer by delivering best-in-class, cost-effective, immersive training experiences to Drivers.  This professional grade simulator measures new hires’ skill level, optimizes fleet and Driver performance to help us operate our equipment safely and efficiently, within compliance, all while minimizing risk to ourselves, our equipment, and the public.

“The main reason we use the simulator is Safety. For new hires, we use it as another tool and look at the person’s driving habits and if they have risky behaviors before allowing them to continue onto the official road test.” – Casey Driggers, Executive Vice President of Safety

The benefit of the Smith System of driving is increased safety.  With an initial Smith System Certification, all of our recruits begin their job equipped with this proven system’s “Smith5Keys”.  Overall Smith helps reduce accidents and incidents by optimizing the way you drive and increasing your awareness of what is happening on the road.  At Custom Commodities Transport, we continually recertify, revisiting the training annually to help Drivers see, think, and act their way through various driving environments, challenges, and changes that exist regardless of where they travel or the equipment they operate. The Smith5Keys are designed to provide our Drivers with the knowledge and skills to create three important things while driving:

    • Space to maneuver their vehicle away from conflict
    • Visibility to detect danger and the potential for conflict with another vehicle or fixed object early
    • Time to react to volatile and complex driving environments

“All professions require continuing education training.” Says Casey Driggers.  “Here at Custom, our Drivers are professional and also need continuing education.”  Some of the benefits of using Infinit-I Online for our Driver training are: onboarding from anywhere on their device, ongoing quarterly assignments, and corrective action training (keeping all involved on the same page moving forward after an event).

Microlearning videos provide short bursts of information that make completing and retaining the materials easier. Our training videos average 5-8 minutes, and we can track the fleet’s training successes.  Being able to pick from thousands of driving topics and assign specific video-driven training to a Driver, a groups, or the entire fleet is convenient and easy.  “The ability to take the training 24/7/365 from anywhere in the country has been a game-changer!” says Jordan Shipp, Executive Vice President of Operations
